History of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN

The history of the Grand Ole Opry goes back over 90 years to the very first show broadcast on live radio! This show spread across the globe, and became the audio recording to make country music famous. It began as a radio show barn dance and transformed into a notable stage for country artists.

Over the years, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, has had several homes. It began in 1925 at the National Life & Accident Insurance Company building and then moved to Hillsboro Theatre in 1934. From there, it traversed to the Dixie Tabernacle, War Memorial Auditorium, and then Ryman Auditorium

Since 1974, it has been housed in the Grand Ole Opry House in Opryland, where you can visit, tour, and see performances today!
